Purpose of the role 

To develop and oversee all non-scripted and entertainment content from development to broadcasting. Research and investigate industry trends and changes in the Local and International markets. Report on alternate programmes/channels/trends and proactively present and discuss new ideas

Job description

• Send out briefs to the industry and evaluate both solicited and un-solicited proposals with agreed feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
• Follow agreed submissions, pitching, feedback and commissioning processes.
• Implement and oversee contracting process for successfully commissioned shows with Legal.
• Ensure that all regulatory and rights clearances (i.e., Music/location/talent) as set out by commissioning/licensing contract is secured
• Oversee all commissioned shows budgeting process and liaise between production, Finance, Sales, Marketing and all other stakeholders
• Hold regular status meetings for productions including external and internal stakeholders
• Ensure that new productions are produced to the expected standards and are within the agreed budget and production timelines
• Manage all productions houses and suppliers strictly to contractual deliverables and ensure all contracts agreements are signed prior to production
• Manage the budget of all non-scripted productions with Finance
• Approve scripts and shooting schedules for all programmes.
• View and provide editorial feedback on the various offline and online versions of programmes
• Approve all final programmes for broadcast ensuring the editorial ethos of each broadcasting client is adhered to
• Ensure on time delivery of programs and promotional material as per agreed schedule
• Ensure compliance with the BCCSA standards
• Monitor commissioned programme performance against set business targets
• Provide Content DNA guidance across all the reality content produced for all clients
• Work closely with Primedia Studio’s Management team on ensuring that the strategic objectives of each show are met
• Write commission briefs for the industry and manage pitching sessions according to relevant client strategy
• Develop and pilot innovative new local content programmes taking into consideration the broadcasting client’s positioning and strategy.
• Evaluated unsolicited non-scripted submissions.
• Establish and maintain effective relationship with Independent Producers, Production Companies, Broadcast Clients, and Sponsors
• Establish relationships with all internal stakeholders across the Primedia Group

Educational requirement 

• A Degree in Film and Television Production

Skills required

• Minimum 5 -7 years’ experience as an executive producer, series runner or content director
• Extensive entertainment production and broadcasting industry knowledge and experience
